On the perfecting of Faith, drawing nigh, and eternal life in His blood

"The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Therefore I said unto the children of Israel, 'No soul of you shall eat blood, neither shall any stranger that sojourneth among you eat blood.

And whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.

For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, 'Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh:' for the life of the flesh is the blood thereof: whosoever eateth it shall be cut off." -- Lev. 17:11ff

"The wages of sin is death...." -- Rom. 6:23a

"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship [Gr. _koinonia_, 'communion'] one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." -- 1 John 1:7

"....but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." -- Rom. 6:23b

"Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day." -- John 6:54

"The life of the flesh is in the blood."

"And this is the record, that God hath given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. ... And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life." -- 1 John 5:11-13, 20

"He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
...
Doth this offend you? What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? It is the spirit that quickeneth [i.e. gives life]; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

But there are some of you that believe not." -- John 6:56, 57, 61b-64a

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
...
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
...
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." -- John 3:6, 13, 14

"The life of the flesh is in the blood."
"Ye have eternal life."
"This life is in his Son."
"That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."
"...for that which is conceived in her [i.e. Mary] is of the Holy Ghost [aka Spirit]." -- Matt. 1:20

"...we have fellowship [Gr. _koinonia_, 'communion'] one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

"The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion [Gr. koinonia] of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion [Gr. koinonia] of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?" -- 1 Cor. 10:16-18

"The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you up on the altar as an atonement for sin."
"Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?"

"I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one..." -- John 17:23

"...when he [i.e. Abraham] had offered Isaac his son upon the altar ... Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, 'Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness:' and 'he was called the Friend of God.' Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only." -- James 2:21b-23

"I have given it to you upon the altar."
"They which eat of the sacrifice are partakers of the altar."

"For such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens; who needeth not daily, as those high priests to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself." -- Heb. 7:26, 27

"I have given it to you upon the altar."
"They which eat of the sacrifice are partakers of the altar."
"And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven."
"...he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ... What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?"

"For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; for then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself." -- Heb. 9:24-26

"Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, 'Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me..." -- Heb. 10:5

"But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God ... for by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified [i.e. made holy]." -- Heb. 10:14

"The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it upon the altar." "They which eat of the sacrifice are partakers of the altar."

"Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh, and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
...
Now 'the just shall live by faith:' but 'if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.' But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

"But there are some of you that believe not."

"when he [i.e. Abraham] offered Isaac his son upon the altar ... faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect .. and the scripture was fulfilled which saith, 'Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness'."

"Do you not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple? and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?" -- 1 Cor. 9:13

"For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. ... are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar?"

"Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature..." -- 2 Pet. 1:4

"Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.  ... For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end...And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief." -- Heb. 3:12, 14, 18-19

"The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
"...but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest..." -- Heb. 4:2, 3a

"But there are some of you that believe not."

"Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: ... he that is entered into rest, he hath also ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us therefore labour [i.e. work] therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."

"But there are some of you that believe not."

"When he offered his son upon the altar, faith wrought with his works and by works was faith made perfect."
"Let us labour to enter into his rest."

"We have an altar, whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle." -- Heb. 13:10

"'Take, eat, this is my body.' And he took the cup, and gave thanks..." -- Matt. 26:26

"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." -- Heb. 13:15

"And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, 'Drink ye all of it; for this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.'" -- Matt. 26:27-28

"The life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it upon the altar." "They which eat of the sacrifice are partakers of the altar." "Whereof they have no right to eat which serve the tabernacle."
"The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
"He brake it and said." "He gave it to them, saying."
"The words that I speak...."

"But there are some of you that believe not."

"Let us therefore labour [i.e. work] therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief."
"Now 'the just shall live by faith:' but 'if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.'"
"But there are some of you that believe not."
"But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."

"O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him." -- Ps. 34:8

"Let us enter in... by the blood of Jesus..."

"'Doth this offend you?' ... From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him." -- John 6:61b, 66

"But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul."
"for we are all partakers of that one bread."

"Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils."

"Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith..."
